No project geotechnical report has been prepared for this area. Project structural drawings indicate design based on a maximum assumed allowable bearing pressure of 2,000 psf. Based upon our experience and on the IBC presumed soil load bearing pressurês in Table 1806.2, this soil type, at the elevations and time of our observations, likely meets or exceeds the presumed allowable bearing pressure used in the design. However, the presence of weaker subsurface soil layers resulting in allowable bearing pressure of less than 2,000 psf cannot be ruled out by surface observations only. Quantitatively verifying soil bearing capacity generally requires access to subsurface information and Standard Penetration test data. lf this is desired, we recommend drilling and data collection be performed.
