Those framing items, and our approval and/or corrections are provided below. 1. The concrete headers over the basement windows are 8.5" tall rather than 18" tall. a. This is acceptable at the two 5050 windows that are perpendicular to the floor joists and have LVL flush headers over the top. This is also acceptable at the 3650 window in the SW corner that is parallel to the floor joists. b. At the 5050 window in the SE corner that is parallel to the floor joists, sister a new 11 7/8" LVL x 6'-0" (minimum) to the typical floor rim over the existing opening. 2. Gable end truss "D1LG" was field modified to accommodate a window. a. We have reviewed the modifications and they are acceptable. 3. One of the beam pockets was installed too deep and a 3" square tube column was installed to support the end of the steel beam. a. The tube column is acceptable, but we recommend bolting the column to the foundation wall with a minimum of (2) 1/z" Titen HD concrete anchors. 4. The STHD14 holdowns specified in the permit drawings were not installed during the foundation pour and were retroactively replaced with HDU holdowns. a. We have reviewed the HDU holdowns and they are acceptable. S. The three-ply girder truss "HBGD" bears 6" on a doug-fir bearing block rather than the 8" minimum bearing length specified on the plans. a. We have reviewed the bearing conditions and they are acceptable. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. The welding & bolting inspected above was at the main floor framing level. The onsite welding & high strength A325 bolting inspected above appeared to be in substantial conformance with the plans, and the quality requirements of the AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code & the AISC/RCSC Specification for high strength bolting. Note; steel beam pocket West side of residence was too low in elevation, and the steel erection personnel had added a smaller sized temporary section of tube steel to support the steel beam. If would be recommended that the contractor have the structural engineer review this condition, and provide or approve a fix. AINglas E.
