Per the Existing Building Code Chopter 5 the clossificotion of work on the
pool building is Alterotion - Level l. "Level I olterotion include the
removol ond replocement or the covering of existing moteriols, elements,
equipment, or fixtures using new moteriol, elements, equipment, or

The siroight opplicoiion of the Existing Building Code is difficult os the
"work crrecr" is completely outside of the building. The existing building
gets involved in the increosed occuponcy lood from the enlorged pool
deck ond increosed stondords in the ISPSC. This offects window ond door
olorms, ond the egress poth through the building hollwoy. The work oreo
in the building consists only of modificotion of existing elements ond
limited to o level I Alterotion.
Under Chopter Z of the 20.l5 lnternoiionol Exisiing Building Code, section

minute (l /3 hour) fire ossemblies. (21 6.5.3 ond Toble 716.5)
See item 9 obove for discussion on olternotion level per the 2015 Existing
Building Code. Under Chopter Z of the 20l5 lnternotionol Existing Building
Code, section 703, Level I "Alterotions sholl be done in o monner thot
mointoins the level of fire protection provided." The existing corridor is not

Your memo states that this is not a public pool. The 2015 ISPSC Sec. 202 defines a
"CLASS C, SEMI-PUBLIC POOL (as) A pool operated solely for and in conjunction
with lodgings such as hotels, motels, apartments or condominiums." The plans
should state this is the class of pool the project and plans are designed for. This
appears to be the accurate classification of the Cerise Ranch Pool. The Cerise
Ranch Subdivision has approximately 68 lots and is mostly built out, serving a
considerable popu lation.
