RE: Baeumler Residence – Roof modification for Mech Equipment
Bruce,
We understand that you need to modify one or maybe two prefab roof trusses. We have been
working with Troy at TrusFab on the below solution.
For any trusses you modify you will need to add a 11 7/8”LVL to the bottom of the roof
sheathing that will span from wall to beam. The new LVL will be supported at the wall and at the
beam. The 11 7/8”LVL may be notched 1 ¾”x2 ¾” to install and remove the filter.
At the bottom chord you will need to add a 7 ¼” LVL to support the unit. Or you could add two 5
½”LVL.
Please let us know if you have any further questions or need anything else.
Sincerely,
Mike Arbaney P.E.
