The foundation excavation was cut in one [eve[, 3 feet below the adjacent ground surface. The soits exposed in the bottom of the excavation consisted of stiff, moist, very sitty sand. The soit conditions exposed in the excavation are consistent with those previousLy encountered on the site and suitabte for support of spread footings designed for the recommended al.towabte bearing pressure of 1,500 psf. There coutd be some post-construction setttement (and differentiat to the existing buitding), especiatty if the bearing soits become wetted Loose and disturbed soits in the footing areas should be compacted prior to placement of concrete. ln the stab area, existing fitt was observed above the existing watervatves and water lines. This material. shoutd be removed from beneath s]ab areas and reptaced with structural fill compacted to at teast 95 percent of the standard Proctor density at a moisture content near optimum, or a structural slab used to bridge the existing fitl, material to reduce slab setttement potential.. lwil,L send you the letter as soon as the Lab testing is complete.
