RE: 6800 CR 252 Rifle, CO Parcel 192120300033 – Foundation Soil Investigation
Dear Mr. Jensen:
This letter summarizes our observations of the soil adjacent to and immediately beneath the
planned foundation and provides confirmation that the soil bearing capacity used for the foundation
design is appropriate. The soils investigation consisted of two field visits, including one where the
foundation was mostly completed on July 18, 2023, and one yesterday, May 22, 2024, when the
excavation was completed and footing forms were nearly completed. The soil in the vicinity of the
foundation excavation is predominantly silty sand with interbedded angular rocks based on a field
classification. Some of the soil has trace amounts of clay, but overall, there is little to no plasticity,
thereby reducing the potential for soil expansion. The angular rock gravel provides additional stability
and strength. The soil below the footings feels and appears firm and consolidated.
Based on these observed conditions, we estimate that the soil bearing capacity is at least 2,000
psf and would recommend this value be used for design. Please let me know if you have any other
questions.
Best regards,
Will A. Myers, P.E.
