Brad,
At the request of the contractor, we reviewed the alternate of using #3 “S” shaped stirrups in lieu of the typical
closed loop stirrups. It is our understanding that due to the construction constraints with ICF walls, closed loop
stirrups cannot be installed and therefore not a feasible option. Upon our review of the headers, we
determined that the structural design is adequate with #3 single-leg “S” stirrups with ACI standard hooks at the
spacing as specified per the Rev 3 structural set, dated 12/11/2023.
