BLRE-06-24-8707 - Anderson Basement Utility Room

Courtesy Message for Edward Anderson
Hello, I'm beginning the code review for the proposed utility room of your unfinished
basement and have a few questions to verify before the building permit is issued:
QUESTIONS:
1 . The % = foot graph paper provided, graphically depicts a UTILITY ROOM with two stair systems
and two door locations.
1.a. The stair that is open to the utility room appears to lead up? Does it lead upward into habitable
finished living space OR into an attached garage occupancy OR other?
'1.b. A second set of stairs depicting a second door and no intervening landing leads where? To another
portion of the unfinished basement? Or perhaps, to the outdoor yard and finished grade? OR other?
2. To clarify in the building file records, what type of utility equipment is being installed in space
marked UTILITY ROOM?
2.a.lf solar battery storage is included in this space, what ESS Energy storage system and KWh is
proposed for the space?
2.b. Will the UTILITY ROOM include other household residentialappliances / equipment, if so, please
specify?
2.c. ll an ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM (ESS) is proposed, can you please supply a manufacturer's 'cut
sheet' including copy of manufacturer's installation instructions or a ESS Listing / Label from the
supplie/s man ufacturer?
2.d. Are the two stainruays / doonrvays existing and already built?
2.e. Are the UTILITY ROOM framed partition walls existing or proposed? Non-bearing wood studs, metal
studs etc?
3
2.f. Will the UTILITY ROOM have existing / proposed finished 5/8 type X drywall installed?
2.9. SEE ATTACHED PDF GUIDE SECTION R328 R328.1, R328.2, R328.3, R328.4 and F328.5 for
related code references.
l'm requesting further information now so we have a clearer understanding what is going to be stored in
the basement UTILTIY ROOM and how building occupants travel through this space and into other
occupied portions of the building / property.
Thanks for your submittal application and content thusfar, I look fonrvard to working with you and learning
more about the project,
Golleen Wirth
