variances from design quantities which exceed NEBB tolerances are noted

The air distribution systems have been tested & balanced and final adjustments
have been made in accordance with NEBB “Procedural Standards for Testing,
Adjusting & Balancing of Environmental Systems” and the project specifications.

3. MECHANICAL WORK SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL APPLICABLE CODES. VERIFY ALL REQUIREMENTS PRIOR
TO SUBMITTING BID OR COMMENCING WORK.
4. MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ADDITIONAL COORDINATION OR
MODIFICATIONS THAT MAY BE REQUIRED DUE TO THE USE OR INSTALLATION OF EQUIPMENT OTHER

ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL.
MECHANICAL HVAC NOTES
1. HEATING WATER PIPING AND INSULATION: REFER TO SPECIFICATION SECTIONS 23 2000 AND 23 0700
RESPECTIVELY FOR PIPING AND INSULATION REQUIREMENTS.
2. REFRIGERANT PIPING AND INSULATION: REFER TO SPECIFICATION SECTIONS 23 2000 AND 23 0700

3. THE AIR-COOLED CONDENSING UNIT SUPPLIER SHALL SUBMIT A MANUFACTURER APPROVED
REFRIGERANT PIPING DIAGRAM SPECIFIC TO THIS PROJECT. CLEARLY IDENTIFY PIPING LENGTHS,
DROPS, RISES, SIZES, VALVES, AND SPECIALTIES.
4. INSTALL ALL VALVES ABOVE ACCESSIBLE CEILINGS. PROVIDE 12"x12" ACCESS DOORS FOR ALL VALVES
ABOVE GYPSUM CEILINGS. ALL FINAL ACCESS DOOR LOCATIONS SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE
ARCHITECT DURING COORDINATED SHOP DRAWING REVIEW.
5. PROVIDE PIPING SLEEVES AT ALL WALL PENETRATIONS. REFER TO SPECIFICATION FOR EXACT
REQUIREMENTS.
MECHANICAL PIPING NOTES
1. FURNISH ALL LABOR, MATERIALS TRANSPORTATION, EQUIPMENT, AND SERVICES TO INSTALL A
HYDRONIC RADIANT HEAT SYSTEM WHERE INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS.
2. SHOP DRAWINGS, OR DESCRIPTIONS OF MATERIALS, AND DETAILS OF INSTALLATION SHALL BE
SUBMITTED FOR APPROVAL. NO FABRICATION SHALL BE PERFORMED UNTIL APPROVAL IS OBTAINED.
3. TUBE SHALL CARRY A 25-YEAR NON-PRORATED WARRANTY AGAINST FAILURE DUE TO DEFECT IN
MATERIAL AND/OR WORKMANSHIP.
4. TUBE SHALL BE CROSS-LINKED POLYETHYLENE WITH AN OXYGEN DIFFUSION BARRIER, RATED AT 180°F
MAXIMUM WORKING TEMPERATURE, AND 100 PSI WORKING PRESSURE. THE TUBE SHALL BE
MANUFACTURED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM STANDARD SPECIFICATION F 876.
5. TUBING LAYOUT SHALL BE BY THE TUBING MANUFACTURER'S APPROVED REPRESENTATIVE. TUBING
MANUFACTURER'S REPRESENTATIVE SHALL PROVIDE A WRITTEN STATEMENT THAT THE TUBING LAYOUT
WILL OPERATE CORRECTLY WITH THE SPECIFIED PUMP AND CONTROL SYSTEM. IF THE TUBING LAYOUT
DOES NOT WORK WITH THE SPECIFIED PUMP, THE MANUFACTURER'S REPRESENTATIVE SHALL SELECT
AND SUBMIT ON THE CORRECT PUMP. SUBMIT TUBE FLOW AND PRESSURE DROP DATA FOR EACH ZONE
FOR REVIEW.
6. THE MINIMUM BEND RADIUS FOR COLD BENDING OF THE TUBE SHALL NOT BE LESS THAN SIX TIMES THE
OUTSIDE DIAMETER. BENDS WITH A RADIUS LESS THAN STATED SHALL REQUIRE THE USE OF A BEND
SUPPORT AS SUPPLIED BY THE TUBE MANUFACTURER.
7. MANIFOLDS: MANIFOLDS SHALL BE COPPER. MANIFOLDS SHALL HAVE INTEGRAL CIRCUIT BALANCING
VALVES. MANIFOLDS SHALL BE ABLE TO VENT AIR AND DRAIN WATER FROM THE SYSTEM. MANIFOLDS
SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH SUPPORT BRACKETS AND TUBE BEND SUPPORT. MANIFOLDS SHALL BE
ISOLATED FROM SUPPLY AND RETURN TUBING WITH VALVES THAT ARE SUITABLE FOR ISOLATION AND
BALANCING.
8. FITTINGS SHALL BE MANUFACTURED OF STAINLESS STEEL. THESE FITTINGS MUST BE SUPPLIED BY THE
TUBE MANUFACTURER. THE FITTINGS SHALL CONSIST OF A BARBED INSERT, A COMPRESSION RING, AND
A COMPRESSION NUT.
9. INSTALL MANIFOLDS IN UPONOR WALL CABINETS. COORDINATE WALL CABINET LOCATIONS, SIZES AND
FRAMING REQUIREMENTS WITH THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR.
10. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, MOUNT WALL CABINETS FOR RADIANT HEAT MANIFOLDS WITH THE BOTTOM
AT 18" A.F.F.
11. ACCEPTABLE SNOWMELT MANIFOLD AND TUBING MANUFACTURERS: UPONOR OR PRIOR APPROVED

12. PROVIDE CONTROLS AS REQUIRED TO CONTROL THE RADIANT HEAT SYSTEMS (BOILERS, PUMP, ZONE

CONTROLS SEQUENCES AND CONTROLLER REQUIREMENTS. SUBMIT ALL FINAL CONTROL SEQUENCES

RADIANT HEAT (SNOWMELT) GENERAL NOTES
1. SYSTEM COMMISSIONING. PRIOR TO FINAL MECHANICAL AND PLUMBING INSPECTIONS, THE PROJECT
COMMISSIONING AUTHORITY (CxA) SHALL PROVIDE EVIDENCE OF MECHANICAL SYSTEMS
COMMISSIONING AND COMPLETION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS SECTION. COPIES OF ALL
DOCUMENTATION SHALL BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE CODE OFFICIAL UPON REQUEST.
A. NOTE THAT THE MECHANICAL ENGINEER OR MEMBERS OF THE DESIGN TEAM, ARE NOT THE
ACTING CxA. THE CxA SHALL BE HIRED DIRECTLY BY THE OWNER.
B. THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR(S) SHALL INCLUDE IN THEIR BID TIME NECESSARY FOR
PARTICIPATION WITH THE CxA AS NEEDED FOR COMPLETION OF THE COMMISSIONING
DOCUMENTATION.
2.THE FOLLOWING COMMISSIONING ACTIVITIES SHALL BE COMPLETED:
A. COMMISSIONING PLAN. A COMMISSIONING PLAN SHALL BE DEVELOPED BY THE CxA AND SHALL
INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
1. A NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITIES THAT WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED DURING
EACH PHASE OF COMMISSIONING, INCLUDING PERSONNEL INTENDED TO ACCOMPLISH
EACH OF THE ACTIVITIES.
2. A LISTING OF SPECIFIC EQUIPMENT OR SYSTEMS TO BE TESTED AND A DESCRIPTION
OF THE TESTS TO BE PERFORMED.
3. FUNCTIONS TO BE TESTED INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, CALIBRATIONS.
4. CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH THE TEST WILL BE PERFORMED. TESTING SHALL AFFIRM
WINTER AND SUMMER DESIGN CONDITIONS AND FULL OUTSIDE AIR CONDITIONS.
5. MEASURABLE CRITERIA FOR PERFORMANCE.
B. SYSTEMS ADJUSTING AND BALANCING. HVAC SYSTEMS SHALL BE BALANCED IN ACCORDANCE
WITH ACCEPTED INDUSTRY STANDARDS. REFER TO TEST AND BALANCING SPECIFICATION FOR
ADDITIONAL PARAMETERS.
C. FUNCTIONAL PERFORMANCE TESTING.
1. EQUIPMENT. EQUIPMENT FUNCTIONAL PERFORMANCE TESTING SHALL DEMONSTRATE
THE INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF COMPONENTS, SYSTEMS, AND SYSTEM-TO-
SYSTEM INTERFACING RELATIONSHIPS IN ACCORDANCE WITH PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS SUCH THAT OPERATION, FUNCTION, AND MAINTENANCE
SERVICEABILITY FOR EACH OF THE COMMISSIONED SYSTEMS IS CONFIRMED. TESTING
SHALL INCLUDE ALL MODES AND SEQUENCE OF OPERATION, INCLUDING UNDER FULL-
LOAD, PART-LOAD, AND THE FOLLOWING EMERGENCY CONDITIONS AS APPLIES:
A. ALL MODES DESCRIBED IN THE SEQUENCE OF OPERATION.
B. REDUNDANT OR AUTOMATIC BACK-UP MODE.
C. PERFORMANCE OF ALARMS.
D. MODE OF OPERATION UPON A LOSS OF POWER AND RESTORATION OF
POWER.
2. CONTROLS. HVAC AND SERVICE WATER HEATING CONTROL SYSTEMS SHALL BE
TESTED TO DOCUMENT THAT CONTROL DEVICES, COMPONENTS, EQUIPMENT, AND
SYSTEMS ARE CALIBRATED AND ADJUSTED AND OPERATE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS. SEQUENCES OF OPERATION SHALL BE FUNCTIONALLY
TESTED TO DOCUMENT THEY OPERATE IN ACCORDANCE WITH PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS.
3. PRELIMINARY COMMISSIONING REPORT. A PRELIMINARY REPORT OF COMMISSIONING
TEST PROCEDURES AND RESULTS SHALL BE COMPLETED AND CERTIFIED BY THE CxA.
THE REPORT SHALL BE ORGANIZED WITH MECHANICAL AND SERVICE HOT WATER
FINDINGS IN SEPARATE SECTIONS TO ALLOW INDEPENDENT REVIEW. THE REPORT
SHALL BE IDENTIFIED AS 'PRELIMINARY COMMISSIONING REPORT' AND SHALL IDENTIFY:
A. ITEMIZATION OF DEFICIENCIES FOUND DURING TESTING REQUIRED BY THIS
SECTION THAT HAVE NOT BEEN CORRECTED AT THE TIME OF REPORT
PREPARATION.
B. DEFERRED TESTS THAT CANNOT BE PERFORMED AT THE TIME OF REPORT
PREPARATION BECAUSE OF CLIMATIC CONDITIONS.
C. CLIMATIC CONDITIONS REQUIRED FOR PERFORMANCE TESTS.
D. RESULTS OF FUNCTIONAL PERFORMANCE TESTS.
E. FUNCTIONAL PERFORMANCE TEST PROCEDURES USED DURING THE
