RE: Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS)-Detailed Soil lnvestigation
Dear Mr, & Mrs. Mullennex,
Geo Quest was asked to perform a soil evaluation for a new OWTS at the property located east of Rifle,
Colorado at L32 Rusty Spur Trail. This memo presents the investigation details and USDA soil type en-
countered at the residence on Friday, August 9,2024. This information may be used in OWTS design.
Two soil profile test pits, identified as Test Pit 1 (TP-l) and TP-2, were excavated in the northeast corner
of the property near the proposed OWTS area. The excavations were completed with a Takeuchi mini ex-
cavator to depths of 8 to 9 feet below ground surface.
Representative soil samples were collected at multiple depths as appropriate. These samples were evalu-
ated by Geo Quest using the USDA Soil Texture and Structure methods. Generally, the soil in both exca-
vated test pits correlates to a Type 3A, Silty Clay Loam, based on CDPHE, Regulation No. 43, Table 10-1 as
presented below.
Ground water was not €ncountered in the excavations at the time of the investigation. Neither bedrock
nor a limiting layer were encountered to the depths explored.
