To whom it may concern; Blower Door testing Results: RE:air leakage Testing A completion depressurization air leakage test was performed by Elan B of NZB/Building Performance Contractors on 10-14-24.The air leakage rate was: Main house all areas and garage -815 CFM 0.14 ACH @50PA Both pass the code requirements up to 2021. 2009 Code requires less than 7 ACH. 2015 Code requires less than 3 ACH. 2021 Code requires less than 3 ACH. Duct Leakage testing N/A -Not requested (FYI -a/c unit is in thermal boundary) Mechanical ventilation should be used. This is especially important at times of high occupancy and high interior humidity level (showers, cooking, etc) Explanation of ACH: CFM50:This is the airflow (in Cubic Feet per Minute)needed to create a change in building pressure of 50 Pascals.CFM50 is the most commonly used measure of building airtightness. ACH at 50 Pa:The Air Changes per Hour (ACH at 50 Pa)is another commonly used measure of building airtightness.ACH at 50 Pa is the number of complete air changes that will occur in one hour with a 50 Pascal pressure being applied uniformly across the building envelope.ACH at 50 Pa is a useful method of adjusting (or normalizing)the leakage rate by the size (volume)of the building. ACH at 50 Pa =(CFM50 x 60)/building volume in cubic feet. Notes;House 370,597 CuFt.not including the heated garage which is detached from the main house's thermal envelope..There were still plenty of unfinished outlets and electrical wires poking through the drywall.Doors that have not yet been trimmed and the toilets had not yet been filled with water. The home tested out at a mind blowing 0.13 ACH.I double checked my match and verified that the house was indeed airtight by walking around with the Infrared camera and looking for evidence of feathering.I found none of this and therefore confirmed that my reading was correct. The whole house was built out of SIP panels seams sealed and everything calked as best it could be.I stressed to the builder that an HRV was essential and that it's also essential that they check the air filters regularly because it will be the primary source of fresh air in the home until next summer when they open the sliding doors.
