To be in compliance, the contractor and owner may need to medify a skuctural beam above the basement stairs to obtain the required head height. Please refer to the approved structural drawings @evision #2) by Rocky's Engineering LLC, dated 5/2217023 & structural drawings (Revision #1) dated, 4119/2023. To Whom It Ma1, Concern, The purpose of this letter is to address the adequacy of the stnrctural components related to the basement stair he,ad height. The contractor and owner propose to reduce the floor beam above the bottom of the basement stairs to obtain the head height requirements for the stair to ceiling above. See excerpt of structural drawing 53 for beam to be reduced. After further review, the beam has been structurally over designed and the contractor can use a minimum of a (?) I '/e"xll 7 nn LVL beam in lieu of the (3) pty at the indicated locatlon ONLY. Therefore, as needed the conhactor can remove (1) ply of the'.FFB3" beam indicated to help with the head height requirement for the stairs. The contrac0or must ensure that the stair and floor framing above still have full bearing on this beam to not impose implications for the stair framing above.
