STRUCTURAL GENERAL NOTES _ APPLICABLE TO ALL CONSTRUCTION UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED
ON THE PLANS
A. DESIGN SCOPE BY PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER
1. Design Shown on drowings for the following items.
o. Bleocher Aluminum components including seots, plonks, guordroils ond stoirs.
2. Design Shown on drowings does not include:
o. Supporting Glulom Froming & Members.
b. Moin Loterol Force Resisting System such qs columns or woll.
c. Finishes, orchitecturol items, mechonicol units, plumbing, or electricol items.
B. GENERAL REQUIREMENT:
1. The Project is o steel froming wood screen woll on reinforced cip concrete footings.
2. Furnish oll lobor, moteriols, ond equipment necessory to complete the work shown or inferred by these
drowings.
3. Where construction detoils ore not shown or noted for ony port of the work, such detoils sholl be the
the controctor sholl notify the engineer ond londscope orchitect ond request clorificotion..
4. Notes ond detoils on the drowings toke precedence over the generol notes ond typicol detoils in cose of
con flict.
5. Locote ond protect underground or conceoled conduit, plumbing or other utilities where new work is being
performed.
6. The controct drowings ond specificotions represent the finished structure ond do not indicote methods,
procedures or sequence of construction. The controctor sholl tqke necessory precoutions to mointoin ond
insure the integrity of the new ond ony existing structures during construction. The design stresses sholl
not be exceeded during construction bosed on the oge of eoch element Neither the owner nor
Architect/Engineer will enforce sofety meosure regulotions. Controctor sholl design, construct ond
mointoin oll sofety devices, including shoring ond brocing for the new ond ony existing structures ond
sholl be solely responsible for conforming to oll locol, stote ond federol sofety ond heolth stondords, lows
ond regulotions.
7. Obtoin prior written opprovol for ony chonges to the drowings.8. The controctor sholl review ond compore the structurol drowings with qll other Construction Documents,
such os Architecturol, Mechonicol ond Electricql drowings, specificotions, etc. Do not scole drowings. The
controctor sholl verify dimensions, elevqtions ond oll informotion. Report, in writing, ony inconsistencies,
errors, or omissions to the Architect/Engineer of record before proceeding with the work.
9. All existing constructions ore shown schemotic only. Controctor is responsible to verify octuol conditions
ond ollow for them in his bid. Notify the Architectr/Engineer, in writing, in cose of ony discreponcy
between octuol conditions ond whot is shown on the structurol drowings before proceeding with the work.
10. See Architecturol, Mechonicol, Electricol ond other drowings for embedded items.
11. All communicotion sholl be in writing. No verbol communicotions, decisions, instructions or opprovols sholl
be volid.
C. CODE AND LOADS:
1. All design, moteriol, ond construction work for this project sholl conform to the 2017 Ohio Building Code
bosed on the 2015 lnternotionol Building Code (lBC).
2. Design porometers:
o. Deod Lood : self-weight b. Live Lood on Bleocher Elements : As per ICC-300
D. FASTENERS AND CONNECTIONS:
o. All fqsteners sholl be instolled occording to the monufocturer's recommendotions.
b. Screws
1. All screws sholl be o minimum size of f8 unless otherwise specified. All screws shqll be corrosion
resistont ond sholl be spoced such thot the minimum center-to-center or edge distonce of three
screw diometers is mqintoined. Self in -drilling topping screws sholl conform to SAE-J78. A
minimum of three exposed threods sholl extend through the supporting steel member. Screws sholl
penetrote individuol components of connections without cousing permonent seporotion between the
components. Screws sholl be instolled in o monner such thot the threods or holes are not stripped.
Heod styles, threods, ond point types for screws sholl be selected bosed on opplicotion conditions
ond monufocturer recommendotions.
c. Bolts sholl meet or exceed the requirements of ASTM A307. Bolts sholl be instolled with nuts ond
woshers.
d. Use Simpson SDS screws for oll connection to wood froming unless noted otherwise on the plons.
E. INSPECTION:
1. All construction sholl be inspected by the building officiols occording to the obove Code.
2. lt is recommended thot the owner or the controctor hire Precision Structurol Engineering or other
Quolified Licensed inspectors to provide inspection during construction.
F. ALUMINUM STRUCTURAL NOTES.
1. Moteriols
o. Aluminum sholl comply with AAASM35 ond AADM1.
b. Aluminum olloy for stiucturol oluminum members shqll be 6061 -T6 with minimum yield strength,
Fty, of J5 ksi ond minimum Ultimote , Ftu, of 38 ksi. unless otherwise noted on the plons
2. All Aluminum design,fobricotion, ond erection sholl be occording to:q. Locol building code odopted by the locol jurisdiction.
b. Aluminum Design Monuol, 2015 or lotest edition by the Aluminum Associotion. The most stringent
requirements sholl opply.
3. All welding sholl comply witiL Aluminum Design Monuol ond the Americon welding society, AWS,
specificotions.
4. All bolting,Rivets ond /or screws connections sholl be per drowings ond comply with Aluminum Design
Mqnuol.
5. The owner sholl employ quolified inspectors to provide inspection during construction in occording with
chopter 17 of the 2015 lnternotionol Building Code. The inspector sholl be certified by the building
officiols to perform this type of inspection.
6. Where Aluminum is in contoct with or fostened to the dissimilor moteriols, direct contoct between the
oluminum ond other moteriol sholl be prevented os specified in Aluminum Design Monuol,2015 Port 1:
Specificotion for Aluminum structures - sections M7.1 through M7.3 or by plocing o compotible,
nonporus isolotor between the oluminum ond other moteriol.
G. STRUCTURAL STEEL.
1. Unless noted otherwise on plons, oll structurol steel sholl be per toble 2-4 & 2-5 of AISC Monucl
of Steel Construction, 14th Edition, os shown below:

2. Fobricotion ond erection sholl be in occordonce with the Americon lnstitute of Steel Construction
(Atsc).
3. All beom connections sholl be bolted or shop welded os detoiled on the drowing or designed by
fobricotor per AISC Monuol of Steel Construction ollowoble Stress Design, "Fromed Beom
Connections." Bolts sholl be 3/4 inch. diometer ASTM A325, lood indicotor bolts. All bolts sholl be
tightened to the minimum tension specified in the specificotion for structurol joints using A325 or
4490 bolts.
+. All welding sholl conform to the current Americon Welding Society (AWS) Specificotions ond be
performed by certified welders.
5. After fobricotions, oll screen woll metols ond fosteners sholl be cooted with Coroflon ods ond primer,
per the monufocturers recommendotions. color sholl be block mogic with sotin finish. The controctor
sholl provide opproved droinoge mot for oll metol components below grode for droinoge qnd soil
seporotion.
6. All structurol steel ond bor joists sholl hove one shop coot of rust inhibitor primer point conforming
to specificotion. Field touch up oll unpointed oreos ond weld oreos.
