Dear Ms. Placek,
At your request, Huddleston-Berry Engineerins & ]es11n
g, LLC completed design of an onsite
Wastewate, rr"utr"ni ifrt.. (OWTSi for sirigle-family?esidence at Lot 14 Rapids View Lane
in New Castle, Colorado. The site location is-shown on Fignt" 1 - Site Location Map' A site
plan is included as Figure 2.
site Descripti-oq i-"^'+i-arinn rhe nnrrhern nortion of tl ' d by the coloradoAtth" ti-. "f the investigation, the northern portion of the site was occuple
River. The remainder of site was open-and gentty sloping down to the north. site topography is
shown on Figure Z. Yegetation at the ,iitpii-uiily "bnslsted
of weeds, grasses, and bushes and
trees in the northern p#on of the site. rrre site *as bordered to the north by the colorado River'
to the west by a residential property, to the east by a vacant lot, and to the south by Rapids View
Lane.
Subsurface Investisation
As discussed in the referenced report, three test pits were conducted at the site' Using visual-
tactile classification methods, the soil pronre consisted of 1.0 to 1'5 feet of tan, moist' stiff'
structureles, ,unAy-1ou* soils to depths of between 3.0 and 5.0 feet' Below these depths' tan'
moist, dense sandy loam with grurr.l and cobble s (<35% rock) with 1 Yt?5 granular structure
extended to the bottoms of the test pits. The site soils are consistent with soil Type 2A'
Groundwater was not encountered in the subsurface at the time of the investigation' In. general,
based upon the results of the s1tbr.rrfuc. investigation and proximity to the colorado River'
HBET believes that the seasonal high lroundwatJr elevation is deeper than 6'0 feet below the
existing grade at this site.
The locations of the test pits are shown on Figure 2. Copies of the test pit logs are included in
Appendix A.

The design of the absorption system generally follows the requirements of the Garfield county
on_site wastewater Treatment system iotrrsl Regulations, eifective June 2018. The proposed
construction at the site is anticipated to include a three-bedroom home'

accordance with the Garfierd county l"grr"tiJrr ani Infiltrator systems, Inc, specifications. In
addition, the followin! construction procedures are recommended:
. The ,.pti"iunt and distribution box should be placed level over.native soils that have
been scarified to a depth of 8 to 12 inches, moisture conditioned, and recompacted to
a minimum of 950/o of the standard Proctor maximum dry density' within +Za/o.of

which will support sewer or effluent lines should be compacted to at least 90 percent
of the standard proctor ma*imr* dry density, within .*z'/r^of optimum moisture

. Vehicular or heavy .qtrip*.nt traffic and placement of structures should not encroach
within 10 feet of tire Jeptic tank or distribution box,
Inspection Schedule
Huddreston-tserry Engineering & Testin gLLc should.be retained to monitor the construction of
the owrS. The following schedule of o6servation and/or testing should be followed:
, observe the absorption bJ excavation prior to placement of Infiltrator chambers'
. observe placement of the septic talk, distribution box, and all connecting sewer and
