RE Onsite Wastewater Treatment System Tank Replacement for Behlow Project located at 89
Fairway Ln., Glenwood Springs, CO 81601
On April 11,2024, K-Cronk Engineering, Inc. had a meeting with the owner of the property
mentioned above to discuss the Onsite Wastewater Treatment System servicing the existing five-
bedroom residence. According to the records obtained from Garfield County, the system consists
of a 1,25}-gallon aeration tank, followed by a 15'x15' seepage pit. The owner advised K-Cronk
Engineering, Inc. that the existing tank shows signs of damage and has been leaking over time and
requires replacement.
The existing tank must be pumped to remove as much waste as possible. The bottom, top, and
sides must be crushed in to ensure the tank neither floats nor fills with watet, and the remaining
void must be filled with gravel, sand, or compacted soil.
The owner may wish to add up to three bedrooms to their existing residence in the future. The
owner would like to plan for this expansion now and size the replacement tank so it may
accommodate the eight bedrooms. The existing seepage pit is not large enough to accommodate
anv exnansro and will need to be in full when the addition constructed.
To accommodate both the existing and future bedrooms, the following tank configuration is
proposed:
A 1,500-gallon, single compartment septic tank will be used as a settling tank for all solids. A non-
corrodible Orenco filter (model # FTW0436-28, or equivalent) shall be installed at the outlet tee
of the septic tank to limit the size of solids and sludge passing through. The filter must be accessible
for cleaning and replacement from the ground surface. A 1,000-gallon, single compartment septic
tank will be placed down-gradient of the 1,50O-gallon tank. The combined volume of these two
N
$
N=
tanks will provide a minimum of 48-hours retention time for sewage generated by the proposed
project.
The tanks are shown in the enclosed graphic. Installer mals adjust the location andlor orientation
as needed to existins site condi and offsets. The elevations of the existing septic
tank and effluent lines are currently unknown. Should existing conditions limit the feasibility of
replacing the tank while still maintaining gravity flow to the seepage pit, a pressurized system
mav be required. It is the owner's/installer's responsibility to inform this office of any issues
once the elevations have been determined.
LIMITS
This letter is a site-specific design for installation of a replacement tank and is applicable only for
the client for whom our work was performed.
