RE: Can and Will Serve letter for an accessory dwelling unit to be constructed within footprint of an
existing structure located on property legally described as: Section: 34 Township: 5 Range: 89
Subdivision: WESTERN HILLS SUB. Block 10 Lot9 22276 SQURE FEET, and know as parcel number 2LL9-
344-10-009.

The purpose of this letter is to provide confirmation that the City of Glenwood Springs can and will serve
your parcel of land located at281. Ponderosa Drive in West Glenwood Springs with domestic water,
electric and broadband if they require them. lt is understood that this Can and Will Serve letter is
intended for an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) of approximately 840 GFA to be constructed within
footprint of existing home. The cost of any necessary extensions of existing taps, or new taps to provide
these services is the sole responsibility of the applicant,
Water service outside the corporate limits generally requires a pre-annexation agreement, but this lot is
within the historic West Glenwood Water District, which does not require a pre-annexation agreement.
Prior to final approval of the water service, electric service and/or broadband, if you wish it to be run to
your home, the following conditions must be met:
L. Applicant must submit an engineered plan, for the City's review and approval, indicating the
proposed tap locations, the tap sizes, service material, electricaland broadband line runs, and
the proposed curb stop box locations. This can-and-will serve letter is an approvalfor an
accessory dwelling unit based on Garfield County's definition with an approximate GFA of 840
square feet in size. lf the ADU plans change from this definition, the city may require an
updated plan for review.
2. All applicable tap and system improvements fees, as calculated by the City's Community
Development Department and Electrical Department, shall become due and payable prior to the
tap being made on the City's main or systems. This amount is calculated for an ADU for a total
of 0.25 EQRs equivalent to 51,55L.64.
3. All water and electrical uses must be metered, with the meters being inspected by the
appropriate department. Accounts must be set up with the Finance Department prior to the
services being energized.
4. When you have received approval of the planning action and building permit through Garfield
County, please contact the city community development, water and electrical departments for

the details of the actual installation process, the associated fees and provide the city a copy of
the permits.
5. All utility upgrades fees through the City of Glenwood Springs Electric Department must be paid
prior to commencing work, they will provide an estimate upon plan submittal and review.
6. An electrical load calculation form, available through the City of Glenwood Springs Electric
Department, must be supplied along with the engineered drawings for approval.
7. Water services and Electrical services must all meet applicable Municipal Codes, Water
Department and Engineering Department Rules and Regulations.
8. Applicant must contact the Glenwood Springs Fire Department to confirm that the existing
water supply in the area is adequate for the proposed improvements.
9. Following completion of project, an as-built drawing preferably in an AutoCAD drawing file
format (.dwg) and a PDF of the services and associated appurtenances shall be submitted for
review and approval by the City.
