OWTS Permit #: SEPT-6424
May 21, 2025
On October 23, 2024, Garfield County Public Health (GCPH) staff visited the residence at 24 Cedar
Street near Carbondale in Garfield County, Colorado to observe the OWTS installation pursuant to OWTS
Permit # SEPT-6424. At the time of our site visit, the contractor had installed the new sewer line and cleanout
adjacent to the residence, the new concrete 1,250-gallon two-compartment septic tank with a high-head
pump in the second compartment of the tank, the new pump line, and the 563 ft2 Soil Treatment Area (STA).
The septic tank was installed level with access to the tank brought to grade. The STA consisted of a 12 feet
wide by 47 feet long by 2 feet deep unlined sand filter constructed with secondary sand media with 1 ½-inch
diameter Schedule 40 distribution laterals placed in three rows of Quick4 chambers with 10 chambers per
row (30 chambers total). 3/16-inch diameter orifices spaced every 2.5 feet facing upward were present along
the distribution laterals. The first and last orifices face downward to allow drainage of the laterals. Inspection
ports were present at each end of each row. Additionally, we received an installation observation letter and
As-Built drawing from the system designer (dated December 31, 2024) indicating the OWTS was generally
installed according to specifications. The letter also indicated that on October 31, 2024, a pump performance
test was performed for the system and that the test indicated adequate pump pressure was observed. In our
opinion, this system was installed in general conformance with Garfield County OWTS Regulations. No
further action or review from Garfield County Environmental Health is required regarding this permit.
Thank you,
