At the time of our site visit, the contractor had installed the new sewer line and cleanout adjacent to the residence, the new poly 1,500-gallon two-compartment septic tank followed by a 500- gallon pump chamber with a high-head pump in the chamber, the new pump line, and the 750 ft2 Soil Treatment Area (STA). The septic tank and pump chamber were installed level with access to the tank and pump chamber brought to grade. The STA consisted of a 12 feet wide by 62.5 feet long by 2 feet deep unlined sand filter constructed with secondary sand media with 1 ½-inch diameter Schedule 40 distribution laterals placed in three rows of 15 Quick4 gravelless chambers per row (45 chambers total). 5/32-inch diameter orifices spaced every 2.5 feet facing up were present along the distribution laterals. Several punch list items (including the installation of inlet and outlet tees in the septic tank, an effluent filter on the outlet tee of the septic tank, installation of observation ports at the four corners of the bed, and installation of the pump and control panel) were emailed to the applicant on November 19, 2024. We received an installation observation letter and As-Built drawing from the system designer (dated March 18, 2025) indicating the OWTS was generally installed according to specifications. The letter also indicated that all punch list items had been addressed (with photographs) and that on February 19, 2025, a pump performance test was performed for the system and that the test indicated the pump was operating as designed and that the audio/visual high-water alarm on the control panel was functional. In our opinion, this system was installed in general conformance with Garfield County OWTS Regulations. No further action or review from Garfield County Environmental Health is required regarding this permit. Thank you, Edward R. “Ted” White, P.E.
