Using 3 foot wide quick 4 plus infiltrators, an STA bed with 4 rows of infiltrators and a minimum of 46 feet long will be required. lnfiltrators are 4 feet long, therefore there will be 1-2 infiltrators per row and a length of 48 feet per row. With four rows, this gives a total of 48 infiltrators required for the project. The final dimension of the rows will be 48 feet long plus endcaps, giving an overall dimension of 52 feet. Overall dimensions of the STA are L2'X52' Soil type 3 requires a 4' soil section according to Garfield County Onsite Wastewater Regulations. The system will qualify as a TL2 system, due to the pumped dosing system. The test pits show no groundwater and bedrock more than 4 feet below ground. Therefore no over- excavation will be necessary for the STA location. Topsoil will be removed prior to placement of infiltrators and pipes. To qualify for a TL2 system, all systems in Garfield County require dosed distribution. A pump will accomplish the dosing for this OWTS. The pump curve and information can be found in Appendix B. The pump calculated is a PF3005 pump.The transport line and the distribution lines will be 1.5" diameter schedule 40 pvc. The pump will be located in the third compartment of the septic tank. Pump calculations will be for a L500 gallon, 3 compartment tank. Maximum pipe volume, including STA piping is calculated as follows: Area of pipe is calculated as n* .7952 = 1.985 in2 (0.0L38 ft2). Maximum pipe volume is calculated as (48x4 + 24 + 1,21= 229 ft of pipe X .0138 ft2 = 3.15 ft3, or 23.6 gallons. However, the site is pumping downhill and will have minimal drain back. The tank floats will be set to allow approximately 200 gallons out at a time. Closeout of proiect After final inspection of the septic system and STA, owners are provided with a brochure on how to properly take care of their new septic system. This brochure is produced by Pipeline and is entitled Maintoining Your Septic System - A Guide for Homeowners. She has a Bachelor's of Science in the Geological Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. Sitc lnvcstigation On October 22th,2020 Kenneth J Brotsky, P.E. performed a field investigation at 826 County Rd 237, Silt, Colorado. A two bedroom home will be built on site. Four test pits were dug in the area of tlre proposed soiltreatnrent area (5TA). Tlre test pits were logged and are shown in Appendix A. The test pits were dug to the east of the proposed homesite. The test pits were 60 feet apart from each other, near the same elevation of the STA. All test pits were dug to 98" deep with a mini excavator. After L2" of topsoil, the test pits consisted mostly of clayey sandstone matrix. Percolation tests done on site indicate a type 3 soil. The location of the test pits, home site, and property lines are located on the drawings attached. There is an existing home on the property with its own OWTS system. There are no issues with maintaining any of the setbacks per Garfield County regulations. Setbacks from the STA (soil treatment area) bed to features on site will be as follows. These setbacks follow the setbacks listed on the Garfield County Onsite Wastewater Regulations. More setbacks than these listed can be found in the table within the regulations. Well: > 100 Dweliing (no basement): >20 feet Property Line: >10 feet Construction related issues will include the overall steepness of the site and keeping contaminated soil in place. lf it is discovered during construction that the remaining soil under the STA contains greater than 35% rock, additional excavation and backfill will be required. There are no potentialfuture land use changes that are anticipated at this time. The Garfield County OWTS Program Design Review Check Sheet was used on this report and plan set to check compliance with Garfield County OWTS regulations.
