Geotechnical Report
Geotechnical Engineer:NWCC Report Date:06-19-2018
Anticipated Condition:Moisture Conditioned and Compacted
Encountered Conditions
Excavation Condition:We observed that the contractor had excavated down into the existing soils consisting of sands and gravels. This material
appears similar to a contaminated class 6 abc. Per the soils report, structural backfill materials permitting a bearing pressure
of 3000 psf maybe used as a base for foundation systems. Based upon our experience and on the IBC presumed soil load
bearing pressures in Table 1806.2, this soil type, at the elevations and time of our observations, likely meets or exceeds the
presumed allowable bearing pressure of 3000 psf.
However, the presence of weaker subsurface soil layers resulting in allowable bearing pressure of less than 3,000 psf
cannot be ruled out by surface observations only.
We observed the contractor had scarified, moisture conditioned and re-compacted the soils at the base of this excavation
with the use of a mini excavator and jumping jack compactor. The soils appeared moist, dense and generally unyielding.
