Remarks
B: Test results do not comply with specifications.
Comments
Tests are "Direct Transmission" (Method A) unless probe depth is noted as
"Backscatter". Gauge calibration data on file with the testing agency.
6: As requested, we made a site visit to observe and test the
placement of native fill at various locations around the project. We
observed crews placing material in approximately 8-10" lifts with a
dozer for the Chapparal Drive street subgrade. No compactive effort
was observed at this location during our visit. Compactive effort was
being applied to the west footing line of Building A with a Bomag
single smooth drum roller. Our understanding was that the areas
tested were placed and compacted the previous Friday. We observed
lower than optimum moisture content at the locations tested.

9: As requested, a site visit was made to observe and test fill
placement. The contractor was informed of the density test results. It
was suggested to the contractor to rework, moisture condition the
areas of density test #7 and #8. It was also suggested to the
contractor to process the moisture into the lift and not just moisture
condition the surface. Two top soil sample were obtained to
determine the percent organic matter. Another on-site sample of fill
material was obtained and a proctor density test will be performed. A
return visit was requested for June 13, 2024, tomorrow.

Results of density testing performed today met project specifications.
The contractor was notified of our observations and density test
results. Our office will be contacted when additional testing is
requested.
This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observations of fill placement and the test results shown above. Test data are not the sole basis for
opinions whether the fill meets project specifications. The contractor is responsible to apply necessary compaction effort and moisture to comply with project
specifications. Our test results, observations and opinions do not constitute acceptance of the work.

"Backscatter". Gauge calibration data on file with the testing agency.
54: As requested, a site visit was made to observe and test waterline
trench backfill along Center Drive. The earthwork contractor is placing
and compacting class 6 aggregate base course around the waterline
to 12" above top of pipe and the rest of the trench is being backfilled
with the previously excavated on-site soils. We observed the
contractor place the material in 8" lifts and apply compactive effort
with a jumping jack and a vibratory sheepsfoot trench roller. Results
of density testing performed today met project specifications. The
contractor was notified of our observations and density test results.
Our office will be contacted when additional testing is requested.

Remarks
A: Test results comply with specifications.
Comments
Tests are "Direct Transmission" (Method A) unless probe depth is noted as
"Backscatter". Gauge calibration data on file with the testing agency.
69: As requested, a site visit was made to observe and test waterline
trench backfill being placed in the water service trench for Building A.
The earthwork contractor is placing the previously excavated material
back in the trench in 10" loose lifts and is compacting the trench with
a static wheel on a backhoe. Results of density testing performed
today met project specifications. The contractor was notified of our
test results. Additional site visits will be scheduled with our office
when necessary.

72: As requested, a site visit was made to observe and test sidewalk
subgrade along Donnegan Road. At the time of our arrival the
prepared sidewalk subgrade felt soft and some deflection of the
surface was noted. Density testing results indicated the subgrade did
not meet project specifications. We recommended additional
compactive effort be applied to the sidewalk subgrade. We returned
later in the afternoon and noted that the subgrade felt firmer, and no
deflection underfoot was observed. Additional density testing in the
area that failed earlier in the day indicated the subgrade was properly
compacted and met the project specifications. Additional testing was
performed along the prepared surface. Our observations and density
test results indicate the sidewalk subgrade was prepared in general
conformance with the project specifications. The general contractor
was notified of our results and observations. Our office will be
contacted when a return visit is required.

78: As requested, a site visit was made to observe and test sidewalk
subgrade along Donegan Road and curb and gutter subgrade on the
east side of Chaparral Circle, from Donegan Road, heading south.
The subgrade was prepared prior to our arrival. Results of density
testing of the sidewalk subgrade in area indicated did not meet project

noted during our time on-site. We recommended that the sidewalk
subgrade be scarified and allowed to air dry before recompaction.
Results of density testing performed on the curb and gutter subgrade
on the east side of Chaparral Circle met project specifications. The
general contractor was notified of our test results and observations in
these areas. Our office will be notified when sidewalk subgrade has
been addressed and is ready for retesting.

80: As requested, a site visit was made for observation and density
testing of aggregate base course being placed to achieve curb and
gutter subgrade on the west side of Building A. The earthwork
contractor had placed and compacted the required thickness of
aggregate base course in this area prior to our arrival on-site. Results
of density testing performed in locations indicated did not meet project
specifications for density or moisture content. The contractor was
notified of the failing test results. Area to be reworked and additional
moisture added. Retesting in this area will be scheduled with our
office when area is ready.
82: As requested, a site visit was made for retesting of curb and
gutter subgrade on the west side of Building A. The earthwork
contractor scarified the curb and gutter subgrade and additional
moisture was incorporated into material prior to recompaction of the
aggregate base course. Results of retests performed in previously
tested areas met project specifications. As requested, we also
observed a proof-roll at red top elevation on the south side of Building
A parking lot. Proof roll completed with loaded tandem-axle water
truck with unsatisfactory results. Contractor chose to subexcavate 12
inches and replace with suitable material. Contractor to contact our
office when ready for additional inspections.
