Re: 177 Mountain Meadow Ct.
Dear Mr. Ockers,
As requested, structural steel special inspection was conducted per the
IBC 2021 Edition - Chapter 17: Structural Tests and Special Inspection and the
Pitkin County requirements. I arrived on -site at 1:30 PM. I met with you to
review project requirements and material ready for inspection. I have reviewed
the welders' certifications and the welding procedures and found them both to
be acceptable.
Visual welding inspection was conducted on this new construction in the
basement level according to the on -site plans supplied by RMG Engineers. I
observed the column to bottom plate fillet welds and the beam to stiffener plate
fillet welds. Upon completion, I observed all fillet welds to be in compliance with
project specifications and the inspection requirements as stated in Clause 8 of
the AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code — Steel:2020 Edition.
High strength bolting inspection was conducted on this new construction
in the basement level according to the on -site plans supplied by RMG Engineers.
I observed all bolts to be 3/4 " ASTM A325 plain body bolts fitted with a hardened
flat washer properly positioned under the turning surface of a heavy hex nut.
Upon completion, I observed all bolts to be in compliance with the project
specifications and the inspection criteria of the American Institute of Steel
Construction (AISC) and the Research Council on Structural Connections (RCSC).
