The proposed aluminum pergola structure will replace an existing wooden pergola structure of similar dimensions. The proposed pergola structure will be supported along two edges by the existing residence. A third edge of the pergola is intended to be supported on three existing concrete piers, assumed to be founded on standard spread footings typical for residential construction in this area. The Pergola structure shall be attached to the existing residence along two edges as shown on sheets A104 and A309 of the erection and assembly drawings by Struxure Inc., dated 10/06/22, using 5" Ledgerlok screws by Fasten Master or SDS25500 screws by Simpson, spaced at 16" on center (staggered top and bottom) and installed into the existing rim joist, existing 2x4 or 2x6 studs (centered on studs), or fully supported blocking between studs. Ledger attachment assumes conventional wood platform framing for the exterior wall supported by concrete foundation walls. The pergola shall be attached to the existing concrete piers with the following requirements: 1. Existing concrete piers shall be a minimum 10" x 10" square or 12" diameter round piers. 2. Existing piers shall be founded on spread footings at or below frost depth. 3. If existing concrete piers do not meet the above requirements, new concrete piers shall be installed as shown on SK-1(attached). 4. Post base provided by manufacturer shall be attached to new or existing concrete piers with %" diameter epoxy or screw anchors with 4" embedment into concrete (Simpson SET epoxy, Simpson Titen HD screw anchors or approved equivalent). PO Box 5044, Eagle, CO 81631 970-705-1610 An allowable bearing pressure of 1000 psf has been assumed for the design of the footings. This value shall be verified by a Geotechnical Engineer or as required by the Building Department. Our analysis assumes motorized louver blades shall be locked in the vertical or open position during high wind or accumulating snowfall events as noted on the drawings provided by the manufacturer. General Contractor shall verify all existing conditions prior to construction and report any discrepancies from design assumptions to Strumph Engineering for re-evaluation. Please call our office with any questions.
