3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME SOLE AND COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY FOR JOB SITE CONDITIONS DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION, INCLUDING SAFETY OF
ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY, AND THIS REQUIREMENT SHALL APPLY CONTINUOUSLY AND NOT BE LIMITED TO NORMAL WORKING HOURS.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL MEANS AND METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, SHORING, BRACING, AND
TEMPORARY EXCAVATION.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS, ELEVATIONS, AND SITES CONDITIONS BEFORE STARTING WORK AND NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT AND ENGINEER
IMMEDIATELY OF ANY DISCREPANCIES.
6. ALL OMISSIONS AND CONFLICTS BETWEEN THE VARIOUS ELEMENTS OF THE WORKING DRAWINGS AND/OR SPECIFICATIONS SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF
THE ARCHITECT AND ENGINEER BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH WORK SO INVOLVED.
7. RESOLVE ANY CONFLICTS ON THE DRAWINGS WITH THE ARCHITECT AND ENGINEER BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH CONSTRUCTION.
8. COORDINATE ALL OPENINGS THROUGH FLOORS, WALLS AND ROOF WITH THE APPROPRIATE TRADES. NOTIFY ENGINEER IF ANY OPENINGS ARE TO BE CUT IN
STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS.
9. CONTRACTOR TO COORDINATE ALL INSPECTION REQUIRED BY AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION. THE OWNER AND CONTRACTOR ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING
ALL REQUIRED PERMITTING FOR THE PROJECT.
FOUNDATION AND EARTHWORK
1. DESIGN BASED ON AN ASSUMED DESIGN MAX. BEARING PRESSURE - 1500 PSF. NO EXPANSIVE OR COLLAPSIBLE SOILS WERE ANTICIPATED. ASSUMED LATERAL EARTH
PRESSURE: 55 PCF. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE A GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER REVIEW THE OPEN PIT AND VERIFY THE DESIGN ASSUMPTIONS.
FOOTINGS SHALL BE PLACED IN UNDISTURBED NATIVE SOIL. ORGANIC SOIL AND FOREIGN OBJECTS ARE TO BE REMOVED. AT THE UPPER TERMINAL, FILL BELOW THE
OPERATOR HOUSE IS ANTICIPATED. THE GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER SHALL SPECIFY THE FILL AND COMPACTION REQUIREMENTS TO MINIMIZE POTENTIAL SETTLEMENT.
FOUNDATION DESIGN ASSUMES THAT ALL RECOMMENDATIONS BY THE GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER WILL BE IMPLEMENTED.
IF WATER APPEARS IN THE EXCAVATION OR ON THE SURFACE, CONTACT THE ENGINEER PRIOR TO FORMING.
2. MINIMUM DEPTH TO BOTTOM OF FOOTING SHALL BE T-6 BELOW LOWEST ADJACENT FINISHED GRADE FOR EXTERIOR FOOTINGS.
3. FINISHED EXCAVATION FOR FOUNDATION SHALL BE NEAT AND TRUE TO LINE WITH ALL LOOSE MATERIAL AND STANDING WATER REMOVED FROM EXCAVATIONS.
4. THE GROUND SURFACE SURROUNDING THE EXTERIOR OF THE BUILDING SHOULD BE SLOPED TO DRAIN AWAY FROM THE FOUNDATION IN ALL DIRECTIONS. IT IS
RECOMMENDED THAT A MINIMUM SLOPE OF 12 INCHES IN THE FIRST 10 FEET IN UNPAVED AREAS, AND A MINIMUM SLOPE OF 3 INCHES IN THE FIRST 10 FEET IN PAVED
AREAS BE PROVIDED.
CONCRETE
1. CONCRETE WORK SHALL CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF ACI 318 STANDARD. COLD WEATHER CONCRETING SHALL CONFORM TO THE ACI 306.
MINIMUM STRENGTH: F'c = 4,500 PSI AT 28 DAYS
ALL CONCRETE USED IN SLABS SHALL CONTAIN 1-1/2 LB/CY OF COLLATED, FIBRILLATED POLYPROPYLENE FIBERS (FIBERMESH) w/ 7% AIR ENTRAINMENT SLUMP: 4" ± 1"
NO WATER SHALL BE ADDED ON SITE WHICH WILL INCREASE SLUMP TO ABOVE 5". CONCRETE TO BE MIXED PER ASTM C94 MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE IN MIXER: 90
DEGREES F.
CEMENT SHALL BE PER ASTM C150, TYPEII, LOW ALKALI. MIX DESIGNS: IF REQUESTED, SUBMIT TO ARCHITECT FOR REVIEW BY ENGINEER A MINIMUM OF ONE WEEK
PRIOR TO FIRST CONCRETE DELIVERY.
MAXIMUM WATER/CEMENT RATIO(BY WEIGHT) :W/c = 0.64 F'c = 4,500 PSI AGGREGATE: PER ASTM C33, MAXIMUM 1". NO ADMIXTURES CONTAINING CHLORIDE SALTS
ARE PERMITTED. CONCRETE SHALL NOT BE IN CONTACT WITH ALUMINIUM.
2. CURING SHALL IMMEDIATELY FOLLOW THE FINISH OPERATION. KEEP CONCRETE CONTINUOUSLY MOIST FOR AT LEAST 7 DAYS USING A POLYETHYLENE FILM
SECURELY HELD IN PLACE OR AN ALTERNATE METHOD APPROVED BY ARCHITECT.
3. PLACEMENT: PER ACI STANDARD 614.
4. A MINIMUM OF TWO TEST CYLINDERS SHALL BE CAST FOR EACH FOUNDATION OR A MINIMUM OF TWO TEST CYLINDERS SHALL BE CAST FOR EACH TRUCK
(WHICHEVER REQUIRES THE MOST SAMPLES BE TAKEN). CYLINDERS SHALL BE LABELED FOR ALL FOUNDATIONS APPROPRIATELY. CYLINDERS TAKEN FROM TRUCKS
SUPPLYING MORE THAN ONE FOUNDATION SHALL BE LABELED FOR ALL FOUNDATION APPROPRIATELY. ONE CYLINDER OF EACH PAIR IS TO BE TESTED AT 28 DAYS
PER ASTM C39. THE SECOND CYLINDER IS TO BE RESERVED FOR SUBSEQUENT TESTING IF REQUIRED.
REINFORCING STEEL
1. REBARS: DEFORMED STEEL, ASTM SPEC. A615 GRADE 60. ALL REBAR BENDS TO BE MADE COLD.
