Subject: Open Hole InspecƟon and CompacƟon TesƟng of Engineered Fill
Mr. Bauer,
Geo Quest (GQ) visited the foundaƟon excavaƟon for a new residence at 611 ScuƩer Lane east
of Rifle on March 2nd, 10th and 13th to observe subgrade condiƟons and the engineered fill
secƟon. GQ made short site visits and did not perform full Ɵme observaƟon of the work.
GQ observed and tested the compacƟon of two 12-inch layers of road base using the nuclear
density method. GQ observed the road base that was placed with moisture and compac Ɵon
control within the foundaƟon footprint areas using a vibratory plate compactor and walk behind
sheepsfoot roller. The density of the engineered fill secƟon was at least 95% of the maximum
dry density of the standard Proctor value. This meets and exceeds the 1,500 psf bearing
capacity value that is referenced in the structural plan set produced by Studio M Engineers, LLC.
Photos of the site and compacted fill are presented below in Figures 1 and 2.
Respecƞully submiƩed,
Geo Quest, LLC
