CTLIThompson, Inc. (CTLIT) visited the Garfield County Airport Hangars project on
March 31, 2026. The purpose of our site visit was to observe the footing subgrade soils in the
foundation excavation for Hangar D. The soils exposed at footing elevation consisted of silty to
sandy clay soil. Photographs taken at the time of our site visit are attached.
Kumar & Associates, Inc. performed a geotechnical engineering investigation for the
Garfield County Airport Hangars project (Project No. 22-7-255; report dated June 13, 2022; re-
port updated August 17, 2022). The report recommends that the building be founded with
spread footings bearing on the natural silt and clay soils.
Based on our observations during our March 31, 2026 site visit, we judge the undis-
turbed native soils exposed at footing elevation are suitable for support of footings designed for
a maximum allowable bearing pressure of 2,000 psf.
