Re: Battlement Mesa Clubhouse Addition
Dear Mr. Miles,
As requested, structural steel special inspection was conducted per the
IBC 2018 Edition - Chapter 17: Structural Tests and Special Inspection and the
Town of Parachute requirements. I arrived on -site at 8:00 AM. I met with you to
review project requirements and material ready for inspection. I have reviewed
the welders' certifications and the welding procedure and found them both to be
acceptable.
Visual welding inspection was conducted on the patio and cover addition
and remodel on the rear of the clubhouse. I observed the column to stiffener
plate fillet welds, the beam to end plate fillet welds, and the column to bucket
fillet welds. Upon completion, I observed all fillet welds to be in compliance with
project specifications and the inspection requirements as stated in Clause 8 of
the AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code — Steel:2020 Edition.
High strength bolt inspection was conducted on the patio and cover
addition and remodel on the rear of the clubhouse. I observed all bolts to be 3/4"
ASTM A325 plain body bolts fitted with a hardened flat washer properly
positioned under the turning surface of a heavy hex nut. Upon completion, I
observed all bolts to be in compliance with project specifications and the
inspection criteria of the American Institute of Steel Construction (RISC) and the
Research Council in Structural Connections (RCSC).
