Comments based on conversation with David Kotz:
• The cul-de-sac at Aster Drive was evaluated for fire truck turnaround requirements and
was found to be adequate, with an inside radius of 27 feet and an outside radius of 48
feet. Approval was granted by the Fire Code Official.
• The proposed grade is acceptable as designed, with slopes remaining below 10%.
• David stated that turnaround areas at dead-end roads will be the responsibility of each
homeowner, who must provide sufficient space for fire apparatus to maneuver and turn
around. I have requested that this requirement be added to the plans. Future developments
will need to coordinate with the Fire District during the planning stage to determine the
turnaround dimensions necessary to meet this requirement. Keep in mind that if a dead
end is more then 150 ft from the last driveway, the dead end will be required to have a
turnaround.
• Fire hydrant locations were reviewed, and the hydrant layout shown on the Utility Site
Plan (Sheet C7) has been approved.
