On November 26, 2025, we visited the site of the residence under construction at 253 Shore Drive near
Silt in Garfield County, Colorado to observe the OWTS installation pursuant to OWTS Permit # SEPT-
9106. The system was designed by Sopris Engineering and installed by Wood Stone Inc. We received an
as-built drawing of the constructed system and a letter certifying that the system was constructed in
compliance with the permitted design from the OWTS designer dated August 3, 2026.
During our inspection, we observed the new sewer line and cleanout adjacent to the residence, the new
poly 1,530-gallon two-compartment septic tank followed by a poly 540-gallon pump chamber housing a
high-head Orenco pump package, the new pump line, the distribution manifold, and the Soil Treatment
Area (STA). The septic tanks were installed level with access brought to grade. The STA consisted of
four trenches each containing 11 ‘Quick 4’ chambers each for a total of 44 chambers (528 ft 2 total STA).
The STA consisted of 4 distribution laterals, one in each trench, constructed of 1.5-inch diameter
Schedule 40 PVC with 3/16-inch diameter orifices every 2-feet on center, facing up with first and last
orifices facing down with orifice shields for drainage. The distribution laterals ended in a 90-degree
sweeping bend facing up, fitted with a ball valve to allow flushing of the laterals. Additionally, inspection
ports were present at each end of each trench. On May 20, 2026, we received phot and video
documentation of inlet tee and effluent filter handle extension installation as well as functioning high
water alarms.
As required by Garfield County OWTS Regulation Section 43.4.F.3, based on our final inspection
observations, this OWTS was installed according to the permit requirements and regulations.
