LEARN MORE AT DCI-ENGINEERS.COM 9/21/2026 Encompass Design Attn: Jenn Clary Project: Aster Place Community Building Location: Parachute, CO Re: Stacked Window Framing To Whom it may concern: DCI Engineers has reviewed the specific wall framing conditions at the Community Building described by the Contractor and Inspector, including the header configuration at the window openings and the framing arrangement between the vertically stacked windows. Based on our review, the condition where framing above the windows bears on the built- up header assembly with approximately 3 inches of bearing is acceptable as constructed. The header assembly provides an adequate load path to the supporting king and trimmer studs. DCI has also reviewed the condition where the cripple studs are interrupted by the intermediate window openings within the vertically stacked window assembly. Although the cripple studs are not continuous through the full wall height, the framing configuration is acceptable provided the framing members are adequately connected to transfer loads to the supporting king and trimmer studs and maintain a continuous load path. This determination is based on the framing members being adequately fastened together to provide the required load transfer between framing elements. Positive attachment shall be provided between the headers, king studs, cripple studs, and adjacent framing members in accordance with the applicable requirements of the adopted International Building Code and standard wood framing practice. Based on our review of the specific conditions described above, the framing is acceptable as constructed. Sincerely, DCI Engineers Matthew Schmidt PE, SE, PEng Vice President/Principal
