BOX 5482 C J BURROUGHS DENVER, COLORADO 80217 CHIEF ENGINEER March 1, 1984 Garfield County Environmental Health Department 2014 Blake Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81601 Attention: Ed Feld Gentlemen: The Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad plans to install a facility for disposal of work train sink and shower drain water at our Una siding, T 7 S, R 96 W, N 1/2 of NE 1/4 of Section 33 in Garfield County. We have installed two similar facilities in Garfield County; one at Rifle, one at Glenwood Springs. The system at Una will be installed per our Standard Plan #285, a copy of which is enclosed. The concrete pit will be 15 feet deep, will be placed in a 12' x 12' hole and the remaining space in the hole will be filled with 1" to 2" rock. We have run a percolation test at a depth of 15 1/2 feet. The percolation rate in that location was approximately 1 inch /28 minutes. We stress that use of these facilities is very sporadic. Any one of these systems may be occupied for perhaps two weeks at a time and then left vacant for several years. If you have questions concerning this installation or any other, please contact Ed Herrick in this office at 595 -2444. Sincerely, U 1 . E. P. Herrick, P.E. Environmental Engineer EPH /mas 0i.
