The procedures followed the instructions given by the Garfield County Inspector Jim McMurray: 1) Dig a pit, 3'x 3'x 3'. 0 2) In the bottom of the pit, dig a hole 6 "x 8" in diameter, 12" deep. 3) Fill the hole with water and let stand for 24 hours. Insulation was provided to prevent freezing. 4) Refill the hole with water and measure the time in which the water level drops one inch. Six pits were excavated in two groups,(see Drawing D-13 for approximate locations. The group to the Southeast of the proposed leach field averaged two minutes per one inch. The group to the West of proposed leach field, averaged five minutes per inch. Test data is on file at the geotechnical office. This information was given to Jim McMurray along with the design inflow to the leach field of 500 gallons per day. Garfield County multiplies this value by a safety factor of 1.5 for a design inflow of 750 gallons per day. The leach field should have a 1250 gallon tank and a field of 12'x 28'x 3' deep or 18'x 19'x 3' deep.
