Gentlemen:
As requested, we performed percolation tests on the subject site. This letter describes
our procedures and presents test results.
Backhoe pits were excavated by the contractor to a depth of between 4 and 5 feet in the
area of the proposed percolation field. On April 8, 1993 we excavated three (3) test holes to a
depth of between 8 and 12 inches below the bottom of the previously excavated backhoe pits.
The test holes were filled with water to allow a "soaking period ". Our field technician observed
a sewer trench excavation in this area. This trench was excavated to a depth of 7 feet. The soil
exposed in this sewer trench and the percolation test holes are similar and consist of a very
sandy clays.
On April 9, 1993 we performed percolation tests. We filled the test holes with water and
measured the drop in water level approximately every 15 minutes for 3 hours. More water was
234 CENTER DRIVE • GLENWOOD SPRINGS, COLORADO 81601 • (303) 945 -2809
added to the test holes when the water level dropped to within a few inches of the bottom of the
hole. Test results are presented on Figures 2 through 4. We recommend using a design
percolation rate of 25 minutes per inch.
If we can be of further service, or if you have any questions please call.
Very truly yours,
