Subject: Percolation Test
Lot 3, Laura Lee Subdivision
Silt Mesa
Garfield County, Colorado
Gentlemen:
As requested, we performed percolation tests on the subject site. This letter describes our
procedures and presents test results.
Percolation holes were excavated by the owner to a depth of 4 feet deep in the area of the
proposed percolation field. On May 7, 1993 the test holes were filled with water to allow a
"soaking period ". The soils exposed in the percolation test holes consist of sandy clays.
On May 8, 1993 percolation tests were performed. Locations of our percolation test holes are
shown on Figure 1. The test holes were filled with water and we measured the drop in water level
approximately every 5 to 30 minutes for 3 hours. More water was added to the test holes when
the water level dropped to within a few inches of the bottom of the hole. The results of our
percolation tests are presented on Figures 2 through 4. Averaged percolation rates were as
followed:
P -1 19 minutes /inch
P -2 25 minutes /inch
P -3 21 minutes /inch
1 .
We recommend using a design percolation rate of 22 minutes per inch.
If we can be of further service, or if you have any questions please call.
Very truly yours,
CLT O $.
