RE: Western Mobile Batch Plant Building C own { / On
Individual Sewage Disuosal System (ISDS)
Dear K. R.:
SGM has completed the design for the septic system required for the batch plant. The
attached design is based upon previous work performed for ISDS installations for the office
building and maintenance building. Previously, both facilities had percolation rates which were
quicker than the 5- minutes per inch minimum required for a standard septic system
installation.
Although this design is based upon the percolation rates previously reported for the prior
installation, it will be necessary to provide an on -site percolation test to verify the design
proposed with this letter. However, based upon similar soil conditions and geology, we
anticipate that this system will indeed be the system required for installation with the batch
plant. As you are well aware, the building permit process has identified the need for a toilet
and lavatory facility to be provided with the batch plant construction. This requirement is
coming from the Uniform Building Code and that no adjacent facilities (i.e., within 50 feet) are
available for persons working at the batch plant. However, it must be noted that although a
restroom facility is required at the batch plant, the restroom does not have to be handicap
accessible. Therefore, the design for the system is only considering the installation of a toilet
an a sink. Additionally, the design considers only five individuals, on the average, utilizing the
restroom facility per day.
We have attached the calculations which identify the sizing requirements for the septic
system. Please note that the minimum size septic system utilizing infiltrator units, is 84
square feet. Infiltrator units consume 18.75 square feet per unit, therefore, a total of 5
infiltrator units would be required with this installation. If it is desired not to install infiltrator
units, and just install a bed, then a minimum square footage is 168 square feet.
We have attached a site plan (schematic) which identifies the typical arrangement required
for the septic system construction. With the field size requirements identified above, the
septic tank requirements (be it fiberglass or concrete) must be a minimum size of 375 gallons.
We have also attached to this report previous information prepared for both the office building
and the maintenance building. The previous information prepared is that of a (each field cross
section utilizing more standard products for the construction of the leach field system. If this
cross section is utilized (and not the infiltrator units), the system bed size must be 12' x 14'.

Finally, we have also attached the Colorado Department of Health's "Table of Minimum
Horizontal Distances in Feet Between Components of a Sewage Disposal System". Pertinent
items to identify with this table are all the setback requirements associated with this project.
Upon review of this information, if you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate
to call.
Sincerely,
