Since this was an engineered septic system that was not inspected by county inspectors we must have certification from the designing engineers that they approved the system installation before it was buried. We cannot issue a Certificate of Occupancy until that certification is received. Thanks for your cooperation. Sincerely, wry. 4 , Steve Hackett Codes Enforcement 109 8th Street, Suite 303 945- 8212/285 -7972 Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81601 ENGINEERS SURVEYORS ° G IS (970) 945 -1004 SCHMUESER 118 West 6th, Suite 200 FAX (970) 945 -5948 GORDON MEYER `` lenwood Springs, CO 81601 January 29, 1998 N v 1998 j Mr. Don Owen 'sieLO 1 ►Y7;y Garfield County Building Department • 109 Eighth Street, Suite 303 y Glenwood Springs CO 81601 RE: Lot 58, Filing Four, Westbank Subdivision Garfield County, Colorado Dear Mr. Owen: The purpose of this letter is to provide you with an ISDS design for the above - referenced property. This design was completed and discussed with Gary Heisel prior to installation of the ISDS, approximately August 15, 1997. We were initially provided with a soils report prepared by MTI Geo, which has percolation test results of 5 mpi, 8 mpi and 40 mpi. Due to the range of the percolation test results, as well as the 5 mpi result, we felt it necessary to perform additional percolation tests to ensure that a standard system would adequately treat the wastewater given the proximity to existing well site. The additional percolation tests were done on August 15, 1997, and resulted in an 8 mpi percolation rate as well as two 10 mpi percolation rates. The system was designed based on a 10 mpi percolation rate. The design was for a four - bedroom home with a design flow of 900 gpd, which equates to a required area of 569 square feet. A factor of 20% was added to this area for a garbage disposal and a factor of 30% was also added for a clothes washer, this results in an area of 888 square feet. A reduction of 50% was taken for use of a graveless soil absorption system for a final effective area of 444 square feet. Using the State criteria of 15.5 SF per infiltrator chamber, this equates to 29 infiltrator chambers required. To make a rectangular bed, 30 infiltrators were installed in an 18' x 30' configuration for an effective area of 465 square feet. Please do not hesitate to call should you have any questions regarding this matter. Sincerely, SCHMUESER GORDON MEYER, INC. J ... ,p c, CPIs e ( 70111 ' Dan Cokley, P. E.
