Box 158 New Castle, Colorado 81647 Job Nu. 197 192 Subject: Percolation Testing, Proposed Residence, Lot 9. Peach Valley Acres, Garfield ('aunty. Colorado Dear Mr. and Mrs Hiscock: As requested, we have conducted percolation testing at the subject site to evaluate the fi:;cib!li!;• ..ri :in infiltration septic disposal system. The work was done based on your request of March 17, 1997. An 8 toot deep profile pit and two shallow backhoe pits were dug on March 18, 1997 at the locations shown on Fig. 1. Percolation test holes were hand dug (about I foot deep by I foot in diameter) at the bottom of the shallow backhoe pits. The test holes had been soaked and protected from freezing with insulation overnight. The client had dug and set -up the two tests prior to our arrival on site. A third test hole (P -2) was hand dug and tested on March 19, 1997. The subsoils observed in the profile pit consisted of about I foot of topsoil and 5 feet of silty sand overlying sandy silty clay to the maximum depth explored, 81/2 feet. Groundwater r•, was encountered in the profile pit at a depth of 8'% feet and the subsoils were moist to very moist. Percolation tests were performed in the silty sands on March 19, 1997 by a representative of Hepworth - Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc. At the time of the tests no frost was observed in the test holes. The percolation test results are summarized on Table 1. The percolation test results indicate an infiltration rate between 15 and 50 minutes per inch with an average of about 35 minutes per inch Ibr the silty sand soils. Based on the subsurface conditions encountered and percolation test results, the tested site appears suitable for a conventional infiltration septic disposal system. The system should be relatively shallow and based in the silty sand subsoils above the clay and groundwater. If you have any questions or if we can be of further nssimance. plme call our o' Ice.
