Neuman Construction Attn: Rick Davis PO Box 2317 Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81602 • Subject: OWS Design, Proposed See Residence Lot 9, Cedar Hills Ranch Subdivision 0774 Cedar Hills Road Garfield County, Colorado Job No. 12795 Dear Mr. Davis, M requested, we have reviewed subsurface conditions prepared by HP Geotech for the subject site and prepared an onsite wastewater system (OWS) design fbr the proposed residence. The subsurface investigation was performed per the HP report dated on May 17, 2000. SITE CONDITIONS The property is located in a residential. area in Garfield County where OWS are required. The proposed drain field area is on a south trending ridge with a 5% slope and has a thick cover of native grasses with surrounding scrub oak. The proposed residence will be served water by an onsite well located 100+ feet from the proposed drain field. PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION A four - bedroom residence is proposed at the location presented on Figure 1. We have sized the OWS based on 4 bedrooms and 600 Gallons Per Day (GPD) using Garfield Health Department loading of 75 gallons per day per person. The peak sewage load is 900 GPD. This loading includes garbage grinders and washing machines. The drain field is to be a minimum of 100 feet to all existing and proposed weds. SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS HP Geotech performed a subsurface investigation by digging 3 percolation holes, 45 to 48 inches deep, and one 8 foot profile pit at the locations described in the HP Geotech report, dated May 17, 2000, and displayed as Appendix A. Subsurface conditions in the profile pit consisted of 0.5 foot of topsoil, underlain by calcareous sandy silt tot feet, underlain by blocky sandy clay tithe maximum depth explored of 8 feet. Percolation tests indicate percolation rates of 120 to 240+ minutes per inch (MW). Percolation data is presented in Appendix A. For very slow percolation rates, such ati these, we use a percolation rate of 180 MPI which is converted to an application rate of 0.15 gals/SF /day. The proposed field is to the of the HP percolation tests. The soils and percolation tests indicate a worst case conditions and we have move the field to the south of the HP tests to locate the field in a more buildable location. We believe subsurface conditions can be no worse that those at the tested location. .
